In 1961, Ariji established his own independent studio and the "Ariji Kokeshi Shop" at the gates of the sacred Jogi Nyorai temple in Sendai. His work is celebrated for its structural elegance and the delicate brushwork inherited from the Yamagata-Sakunami style.
